A cross is one of the most ancient and powerful symbols. A symbol conveys more than the eye perceives. A cross is the meeting of the horizontal and vertical, yin and yang, feminine and masculine. The circle of the Celtic cross gives the union a cosmic dimension. This carving is from St. Kevin's church, Glendalough.

The Claddagh Ring, a powerful symbol of love, loyalty and friendship. The union of the hands (physical) and the heart (romantic & mystical), is crowned, to mark the regal and sacred aspect of the bond. Claddagh (Gaelic for "shore") was a fishing village
nearby ancient Galway. Rings were first made in Kinsale in 1700.
"Love him who gave thee this ring of gold, 'Tis he must kiss thee when thou'rt old".
