The Claddagh Ring, a powerful symbol of love, loyalty and friendship. The union of the hands (physical) and the heart (romantic & mystical), is crowned, to mark the regal and sacred aspect of the bond. Claddagh (Gaelic for "shore") was a fishing village nearby ancient Galway. Rings were first made in Kinsale in 1700. "Love him who gave thee this ring of gold, 'Tis he must kiss thee when thou'rt old".
