How quickly can you supply items? Overnight if necessary. We are careful to keep all items in stock, ready for immediate shipment. The only possible exception to this rule is our cherry standing cross keepsake urns, which are hand-carved by the artist. Though we try to keep a sufficient supply on hand, if we do not have this item in stock, it may take 4-6 weeks to deliver.
Do you have a catalog? Yes. Please call or e-mail to request a copy and prices.
What size are your urns? All Irish Wake urns (with the exception of keepsakes) are adult-sized, with a minimum capacity of 200 cu in.
Are your wood urns made of solid hardwoods? Yes, our wood urns are made from 3/4" thick pure mahogany, cherry and black walnut, each individually hand-carved and finished by American craftsmen.
Do you have any keepsake sized urns? Yes, we have five keepsake sized urns. One is made of fine Irish parian china embossed with daisies and hand-painted with shamrocks. Three are hand-carved standing crosses made to order and signed by the artist exclusively for The Irish Wake. These crosses are carved from solid cherry and have a hollow base to hold a small portion of ashes or some other precious keepsake. One design is the traditional Celtic woven knot, a second features shamrocks and the third is a beautifully detailed Claddagh ring completely encircling the shamrock cross, an amazing testament to our woodcarver's skills. These crosses have a brass plate for personal engraving. Our newest keepsake pottery urn is made exclusively for The Irish Wake by a talented potter who has thrown each one individually by hand, using the classic curved vase shape. This large keepsake urn features a hand-carved shamrock design and is finished with a luminous green glaze. The urn is topped off with a custom lid of black walnut wood and a matching green colored cabochon.
Do you have any keepsake jewelry? Yes, Exclusive to The Irish Wake, our keepsake pendant necklaces, are engraved with the Claddagh, the Irish symbol of love, loyalty and friendship. The necklace comes complete with black velvet jewel box, white presentation gift box, funnel for easy filling and jeweler’s cloth. These pendant necklaces are available in silver and gold-vermeil. The black velvet jewel box has the words “In Loving Memory” stamped in gold colored ink inside the box lid.
What is your return policy regarding cremation urns? Due to their nature, cremation urns are non-returnable.
Do you have register books, acknowledgment cards and prayer cards? Yes, from many requests for these products, we have designed register books with either the Celtic cross or Irish Claddagh imprinted in gold on a green leatherette cover. Inside, traditional pages include Irish touches such as a Celtic typeface, intertwined hearts knotwork border, and Irish blessings, prayers and homilies. We also have matching Celtic cross & Claddagh acknowledgment & prayer cards. The register books, acknowledgment cards & prayer cards are designed by us and exclusive to The Irish Wake.
Are your goods made in Ireland? Most are... we are proud to showcase the finest craftsmanship of the Emerald Isle: Belleek fine parian china; hand-hammered copper sculptures; cast bronze crosses and emblems; pure Irish linen from the world’s premiere Irish linen company, Ferguson’s; Galway crystal adornments designed exclusively for The Irish Wake; hand-carved and polished Connemara marble rosary beads and holding crosses as well as a solid Connemara marble cremation urn.
Do you have anything that features the Claddagh? Yes, we feature a luminous copper Claddagh, hand-hammered and signed by the craftsman, and a Claddagh candle. We also have this loving symbol in stamped bronze on two of our wood urns. The Claddagh also appears on the front of our exclusive register book and acknowledgement cards, and is etched onto the front of our keepsake pendant necklaces.
Do you have anything that features shamrocks? We have many items with this most famous of all Irish symbols, whose three leaves represent The Holy Trinity. We feature two shamrock casket drapes, one in Ferguson’s Irish linen, and one embroidered velvet. From Ireland, we also feature a hand-hammered copper shamrock and shamrock designed candles. Our fine porcelain urn sports delicate, hand-painted shamrocks. Also, two of our hand-carved, artist signed, solid cherry keepsake crosses are deeply carved with graceful shamrocks. Many of these items are exclusive to The Irish Wake and found nowhere else.
Do you have anything in Connemara marble? Yes, we have genuine Connemara marble rosary beads and holding crosses as well as a magnificent solid Connemara marble cremation urn crafted by hand exclusively for The Irish Wake. Weighing an average of 20 lbs., this urn is a truly impressive final resting place, a precious piece of the Irish homeland.
How did you get into this business? Our business was born as the result from our own frustrating, fruitless search for an Irish cremation urn ... See our "About Us" section for the full story.
